Why is it that when some Christians mature, they begin to wear the disease of Arthritis, like a badge of courage? I do realize that when we begin to mature (I don't like to use the words “getting old”) and don’t use our muscles as much or as often, then our joints will get stiff. Look at the “Tin Man” in the Wizard of Oz. A little rain or some of his tears came, and he needed some oil to take the squeaks out and get him moving again. So too, must we, keep our joints and all our body parts motivated.
Have you considered Moses and Sarah? Think about it. Here were two elderly people in their late 90’s and even 100’s. How do you think they got up in the morning? When Moses rolled over to get out of the bed do you believe that everything was perfect? And what about having a baby? The Immaculate Conception had not happened in their lifetime. Remember when Adam and Eve sinned? The curse of sickness and disease was placed upon Moses and all of the people of the Old Testament just as it were placed upon us. If we get up with a little ache in our back, we think we have some pain to endure and something to complain about. What we should do is praise God that we were able ‘to get up at all'!
Don't just sit around when you retire and wait for Mr. Arthur to show up. Don’t use him as an excuse for not working in the church, for not being a witness, for not attending worship service. Rebuke the devil. Send him packing in Jesus’ name. “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground” (Mal. 3:11). Satan wants to take Gods’ laborers out of action. Diseases are of the devil, and we shall not succumb to him or his devices.
And right now, in the name of Jesus, I bind up the disease of Juvenile Diabetes in all those persons who have the disease and who read and believe these words. Be healed and be well in Jesus’ name. Amen. [V. Poller - Personal prayer for healing. 1999]
