Boyz II Men will be in JAX for one night only a Thrasher-Horne

Boyz II Men, presented by V101.5, will be live in concert at Thrasher-Horne Center in Orange Park. Tickets for Boyz II Men are currently on pre-sale to Thrasher-Horne Center Members and will be available to the public starting Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 10 a.m.

Boyz II Men remains one of the most truly iconic R&B groups in music history. The group redefined popular R&B and continues to create timeless hits that appeal to fans across all generations. For over 20 years the band has penned and performed some of the most celebrated classics of the past two decades: “End of the Road,” “I’ll Make Love to You,” “One Sweet Day,” “Motownphilly” and many others.  The group’s 4 Grammy Awards are just the tip of the iceberg: throughout their 20-year career, Boyz II Men have also won 9 American Music Awards, 9 Soul Train Awards, 3 Billboard Awards, and a 2011 MOBO Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

In 2011, Boyz II Men marked their 20th anniversary by releasing a landmark album, fittingly titled Twenty. It debuted at #20 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, #4 on the Billboard R&B Album Chart, #10 on the Billboard Digital Album Chart, and placed #1 on the iTunes R&B Soul Album Chart.  Twenty’s first single, “More Than You’ll Ever Know” cracked into the top 15 on Urban AC charts. Their eleventh album, titled Collide, was released on October 21, 2014.

In 2016, the trio appeared in Grease: Live as the teen angels and sang “Beauty School Dropout.”  Group member Wanya also recently placed 4th on the 22nd season of Dancing with the Stars.  Boyz II Men continues to tour across the country and around the globe, performing a mix of their latest tracks and treasured classics.  Hopefully they will sing “Mama” in three part harmony.  Looking forward to them being here.

‘The Capitol Steps’ generate a new view on politics

Are you tired of all the mud-slinging and political hoopla that’s in the media?  Take a break from all the name-calling of one candidate to another and come laugh at them through the political satire of “The Capitol Steps”.  Right off the top, kudos to Howard Breitbart who continually played all the piano music that the actors needed during the performance.  There are only five qualified actors who mimic many of the political persons you might have recalled in the news recently and in times gone by, yet they do a magnificent job.

Corey Harris may be the newest member to the group, but his impersonation of President Obama is right on point.  Nancy Dolliver, Brad VanGrank Jamie Zemarel, and Tracey Stephens recreate the many personalities with quick costume changes and witty lines.  You won’t be bored especially when you hear the tune from “The Young and the Restless” played in the background of one of the skits.

Some of the dignitaries who you will encounter during the evening will be: President Barack Obama (catching a Pokémon on stage), Nancy Pelosi, Vice Pres. Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Sarah Palin, former president Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Tim Kaine, Vladimir Putin (bare chest and all), Governor Chris Christie, Pope Francis, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, French President François Hollande, former president George W. Bush, former vice president Al Gore, commentator Ann Coulter, singer Bob Dylan, Sen. Mitch McConnell, Sen. Harry Reid, Supreme Court justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ruth Ginsburg: just to name a few.

Don’t forget to stop by the promotion table, after the show, and purchase some of the memorable recordings that are available from past and present shows.  You might also remember to get a written copy of “Lirty Dies” and try to pronounce some of the flip-flopped spoken words.
