Here is just a little note on “lateness”. This piece may not get a lot of “Amens”; but
the truth still needs to be told.
Why is it that we can be on time for work, doctors’
appointments, a movie, dinner engagements and other self-help times (hair,
manicures, massages etc.); yet when it comes to the things of God – we have the
tendency to be late? Church starts on
time at 10:00 a.m. and people will continue to trickle-in an hour after the
service has started. Why is it like
that?
When my Husband and I first came to Florida and found a church, we were a few minutes late for an appointment to meet the leader of the church. The Pastor had other things to accomplish for his day, and we had missed the time that was set apart for us. Our appointment was cancelled and it wasn’t rescheduled. It didn’t matter that we had a hard time trying to find the church and it was raining – it was our responsibility to be to the church at our appointed time. Since then, we make it a priority to ‘be on time’.
Recently I noticed when our church had a meeting, it was 10
minutes after the pre-set time and people were still trickling in while the
speaker was talking. Sure things come up
and stuff happens, nonetheless, we should aim to be a least 5 minutes ahead of
time. If you don’t like to sit around
& wait – then bring a book to read, do a puzzle, crochet or answer your
social media to occupy your time. Always
expect the best to happen, but prepare for the worst case scenario.

is spent; you will never regain it again”
