Historic nonprofit “Florida Theatre” is
committed to ensuring they remain a destination for music and performing arts,
in addition to ensuring that the building is maintained as a historic resource
to the community. The theater responds
to urgent COVID-19 need with a request for donations, as they join
#givingtuesdaynow in global day of giving and unity.
#GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of giving and unity, set to take place on May
5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by
COVID-19. The day is designed to
drive an influx of generosity, citizen engagement, business and
philanthropy activation, and support for communities and nonprofits around
the world.
At a time when we are all experiencing the pandemic, generosity is what brings
people of all races, faiths, and political views together across the globe. Generosity gives everyone power to make a
positive change in the lives of others and is a fundamental value anyone can
act upon. It’s a day for everyone around
the world to stand together and give back in all ways, no matter who or
where we are.
“At the Florida Theatre, a portion of our bottom line every year comes
directly from donations made by members of our community and our generous
donors and corporate sponsors,” said Florida Theatre Development Director
Michelle Adams. “Through their
generosity we’re able to offer community events like our annual Holiday Movie
which benefits the region’s largest nonprofit food bank and hunger relief
network, Feeding Northeast Florida, and present cultural programs like
Jacksonville Dance Theatre, Kodo Drummers, and Pilobolus.”
People can show their generosity in a variety of ways during #GivingTuesdayNow,
whether it’s helping a neighbor, advocating for an issue, sharing a skill, or
giving to causes; every act of generosity counts. The global movement will emphasize
opportunities to give back to communities and causes in safe ways that allow
for social connection even while practicing physical distancing.
“As a global community, we can mourn this moment of extreme crisis while
also finding the opportunity to support one another. We each have the power to make an impact with
acts of generosity, no matter how small, and to ensure the sustainability
of organizations and services that are crucial to the care and support of
our communities,” said Asha Curran, CEO of GivingTuesday. “#GivingTuesdayNow is a chance for us to
stand united and use grassroots generosity to show that we are all in this
together, beginning to end. Even as many
face financial uncertainty, generosity is not about size. From calling an elderly neighbor to chat to
offering translation help; from showing gratitude to our healthcare workers to
donating to your local food bank, every act of kindness is a beacon of hope in this
crisis. We all have something to give,
and every act of human consideration and kindness matters.”

appreciated and welcome via the Theatre’s official website (www.floridatheatre.com).
Their service now helps businesses get ready for reopening due to the influx of
COVID-19. Turner Pest Control has added
a new offering over the past month, TurnerClean Disinfection Misting Service:
an indoor treatment that disinfects homes and businesses by killing bacteria
and pathogens within seconds, including those linked to COVID-19. This service is a natural extension of the
company’s pest control services that eliminate and prevent pests of all kinds
and ensures sanitation.
The TurnerClean solution uses Nisus DSV, a cleaning agent known to be effective
against SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19. The service offers a broad-spectrum
disinfection misting as well as a hard surface wipe down that provides powerful
virus protection and allows technicians to quickly disinfect large areas,
including surfaces and inaccessible areas. The process can help businesses ensure a safe
environment for employees and customers as the state’s economy begins to reopen
in the coming weeks
As part of the company’s community outreach and commitment to giving back to
first responders, Turner Pest Control will provide the Jacksonville Sheriff's
Office with complimentary cleanings for any police cars and the homes of any
officers who have contracted COVID-19. Additionally, Turner Pest Control will perform
a weekly sanitation treatment at JSO’s fitness facilities and donate cleaning
products to maintain sanitation between services.
“Keeping the public safe as we reopen is of utmost importance,” said
Bill Talon, President of Turner Pest Control. “For us, to be able to offer this service to
our local community is a wonderful way to provide business owners and
residential property owners peace of mind during this uncertain time.”
“We are grateful for this generous donation from Turner Pest Control. Their
support for our officers and administrative team helps our team members keep
their full focus on serving this community,” said Officer Derrick Lewis
with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The service is available for a wide-range of commercial business settings,
including (but not limited to) educational institutions, property management,
manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, health care facilities, hospitality,
restaurants and recreation. Trained TurnerClean
technicians apply the disinfectant to walls, floors, structures and equipment. The service is available as both a one-time
treatment and a recurring service, which is recommended.
To inquire about the service and get a customized quote for your business or
home, contract Turner Pest Control at (904) 355-5300 or visit turnerpest.com/commercial/turnerclean-service/ today.

"To Our Valued Guest:
We understand the growing concern surrounding Coronavirus (COVID-19) across our
communities, and our hearts go out to all those who've been impacted. The health and safety of our guests, as well
as team members, remains a top priority at Grumpy’s
Restaurant. As this situation
evolves and we move toward opening our dining rooms, we want to assure you that
we are taking significant precautionary measures and adhering to
recommendations from public health officials, as well as continuing to maintain
our high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
Along with our multifunctional task force that includes key leaders across the
organization who meet daily to ensure we continue to address all facets of this
developing situation. We are also
actively working with our safety experts, vendors and suppliers to ensure that
we can continue to offer you the best breakfast, lunch and brunch offerings.
In addition to reinforcing good hygiene practices recommended by the CDC with
our team members, we have also adopted the CDC recommendation for a detailed
heath screening and temperature check prior to each employee shift. In addition, all back of house employees are
required to wear face coverings at all times. We have also added six hand sanitizer stations
in our restaurant for both employees and guest. We increased the frequency of our already
stringent cleaning and sanitation procedures in every department of the
organization. For example, bathroom
cleaning and sanitation has been increased from every hour to every 30 minutes
of operational hours. We have closed our
in-restaurant waiting area and created a new outside waiting area. We have also increased the frequency of
cleanings, and are providing supplemental supplies to our team members.
We are monitoring the situation closely and will continue to modify our
processes to maintain the highest levels of cleanliness and sanitation in our
restaurant.
We look forward to exceeding your expectations and continuing to deliver an
unsurpassed dining experience in a warm, welcoming and safe environment.
Sincerely,
Daniel DeLeon
