Why Do Christians Gather Together?

We gather together to worship and fellowship with God, to hear and get an understanding of what He has to say from His Word, because He commanded us to enjoy fellowshipping one with another. “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching” (Heb. 10:25). To be better equipped to go about our Father’s business (i.e., winning people for the kingdom of God and sharing the good news of how to prosper while on this planet). And we gather together to learn what we must do to make it in this world we live in…(see the book)

(see the book)…When you’re surrounded by worldly people, and they know that you’re a child of God, these various people may sometimes treat you differently. Some may respect you, while others will try to test you to see what you’ll say or do. Something may be said or done around you that isn’t right, and the world, knowing you to be a Christian, will look to see what your reaction will be. Temptation to fall into a trap of sin will still be around, but we don’t have to fall into the trap. A dirty joke may be told in your presence and the world wants to see if you’ll go along with it. Christians are continually under a microscope to prove whom we intend to follow: God or the devil.

We gather together to love, learn, and laugh together. Yes, we Christians can laugh and have a good time while we’re here on earth. The world sees us as being serious (hell and damnation), but we can have a good time in the Lord while we minister for our God and His kingdom. Being saved isn’t boring.
