Why Do Christians Gather Together?

We gather together to worship and fellowship with God, to hear and get an understanding of what He has to say from His Word, because He commanded us to enjoy fellowshipping one with another. “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching” (Heb. 10:25). To be better equipped to go about our Father’s business (i.e., winning people for the kingdom of God and sharing the good news of how to prosper while on this planet). And we gather together to learn what we must do to make it in this world we live in…(see the book)

(see the book)…When you’re surrounded by worldly people, and they know that you’re a child of God, these various people may sometimes treat you differently. Some may respect you, while others will try to test you to see what you’ll say or do. Something may be said or done around you that isn’t right, and the world, knowing you to be a Christian, will look to see what your reaction will be. Temptation to fall into a trap of sin will still be around, but we don’t have to fall into the trap. A dirty joke may be told in your presence and the world wants to see if you’ll go along with it. Christians are continually under a microscope to prove whom we intend to follow: God or the devil.

We gather together to love, learn, and laugh together. Yes, we Christians can laugh and have a good time while we’re here on earth. The world sees us as being serious (hell and damnation), but we can have a good time in the Lord while we minister for our God and His kingdom. Being saved isn’t boring.

Are You A Player, Or A Spectator?

Player:

Active Participant Paid a specific amount per game

Crosses the goal line Plays in the game

Spectator:

Watches from the sidelines; Watches touchdowns being made

Paid according to his workload

Passive Participant (just sits around waiting for something to happen)

“But be ye doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves” (James 1:22). You’ve got to be a team player when you sign up to be on the Lord’s team, if you want to carry the ball. If God desires you to witness (tell of the Good News) to someone, you’ve got to be a willing and yielding vessel. You’ve got to go and do whatever it may be. Ecclesiastes 9:10 also points out that we should do that which our Father would have for us to do. “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.” (If that one was too rough for you, you may want to read another translation, but it’s still the Bible anyway you read it).

"Group Therapy" production draws crowd to Boleros

Artistic director, choreographer and writer, Kavin Grant, recently returned to his home in Jacksonville from Temple University after completing his second year of Graduate Studies in Dance. He brought to Florida his tantalizing stage show, “Group Therapy” which portrays an inspiring plot in a two act, nineteen scene production. Seven couples find forgiveness and love, through God, by learning how to understand each other.

Boleros Dance Complex is a befitting establishment that hosted two nights of the play “Group Therapy”. The stage, lighting, props, music, background vocals, choreography and script were marvelous. This is a show that could go straight to Broadway and tour from coast to coast and abroad.

Many lessons were shown about the things that people endure on this earth while in a marital union. Secrets in a relationship can tear a marriage apart, yet honesty has to prevail. The couples in the performance had different issue in their households just as someone we might encounter – deceit, hurt, confusion, misunderstanding, blame, lack of trust and just DRAMA.

Don’t think that the play was serious throughout the evening; there were many
moments of humor that had the whole audience roaring in their seats. Since Kavin Grant is also an expert in dance, there were segments of interpretive dance that told different stories; some of hurt and pain that can come from unforgiveness and other dance moves that displayed passion, hope, grace and victory.

Email intrusion – are you a culprit?

Have you ever received an email and you have NO idea who the sender is? You keep getting unwanted emails from them and now you’ve been added to other lists of unknown people. You are a busy person (just as we all try not to be), and your email is clogged with SPAM. Here is an example of “Email Intrusion” from Jacksonville Florida to everyone and to everywhere.

Why am I getting these emails? Could you please remove my email address from this list? I am receiving all the correspondences going back and forth, and I don't know why. I have no involvement in Ms. V's submission and I will not open attachments sent to my email box from “Mr. Want to send to everyone”, or any other person I do not know.

Signed,
Harassed

This person didn’t need to receive this email nor did they desire to see your attachments. When sending off emails to people whom you know personally, kindly add their names to “BCC” (Blind Courtesy/Carbon Copy) so that others won’t have access to other peoples email addresses. I had to send an apology note to all the people that I had mistakenly sent the original email to. Yes, I forgot to “BCC”. Please don’t let this be you. Know the people who you email. And to those who have done this, just remind them nicely “to stop”. When you “BCC”, it makes your email more personable even if you’ve sent it to many, many others.

Christian Woman!

It's a little late, but here is another excerpt from "Where Did That Come From? - Revised" Continue to enjoy the summer seasons and don't forget to catch more on Examiner.com

Christian Woman! - “Look! Up in the Sky; It’s a Bird! It’s a Plane! No, It’s Christian Woman!”

Have you ever met someone who was so friendly at church, and, when you meet them in the streets, or around another setting other than church, they are totally different? Being associated with the military, I have come in contact with some Christians who

have a Chameleon-like attitude. They change according to whichever setting they’re in: very loving to you around other saints and very distant when around you and other people in the world.

We should be the same in our spirit man at all times and in every setting in which we are physically involved. We should portray an image of Christ and show His love to people we meet. So too, as the Word of God is the same yesterday, today, and forever; we should be also.

1st Global Day of Prayer in the US

This is the first time that any city in the United States has hosted the Global Day of Prayer. It is the largest event since Jacksonville, Florida hosted the Super Bowl in 2005. This event will be larger than the Billy Graham Crusade that was held in Jacksonville back in 2000. This is a historic prayer event you don’t want to miss! Join thousands here at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena for the First Coast Global Day of Prayer, Saturday, June 11, 2011 6pm.

Here are the three links that I hope that you will help to spread the word about this tremendous day in the history of our time.

Global Day of Prayer – Can You P.U.S.H.?

As a pre-preparation for the upcoming dates, a little “huddle-time” prayer wouldn’t hurt. There are suggestive 10 Day Guidelines that can be done right now (click here for suggestions). Even if you don’t live in Jacksonville, you may still be a part of this world changing evangelism.

Thank you in advance and all praise, glory and honor go to God. Come and be excited with me and many, many others. Don’t forget to take a look at the “Slide Shows” and “Videos” in each column.

Influences: winning or losing?

Influences: winning or losing?

Are there still good ‘role-models’ left in the world for our children to emulate? Are people in Hollywood and in the industries just getting a ‘slap-on-the-wrist’ and then allowed to go free with what would be considered a “joke of a punishment or sentence?” Recently, one of the most influential men in the music industry (Mr. Angello Ellerbee) let it be known that things have got to change in our society and it’s up to “we the people” to take a stand and make those changes.

“Charlie Sheen Gets Two Standing Ovations at New York City Tour, Charlie Sheen wants Mila Kunis to become his third ‘goddess’ and live with him at his two girlfriends at his Los Angeles home.” What is a Ménage à trios? Is it something that you or your child should desire seeing or hearing in the news? Are the rumors true or false that Sheen will return to the CBS sitcom according to NY Magazine, ‘Vulture’: CBS and Warner Bros.? TV execs declined to comment, even off the record, about the notion that Moonves has offered Sheen his job back. In any case, Moonves was intimately involved with the decision to fire Sheen from Two and a Half Men; it makes no sense that he would suddenly decide that Sheen should return without any new development (a trip to a real rehab center or an apology from Sheen, for example.) Is Sheen a “good example” for anyone?

There are many others who our children may be listening to or watching on TV (Lindsay Lohan, Kayne West, Chris Brown and Lady Gaga just to name a few) – if we allow them to. As Kathie Lee Gifford once said on her show, “How do you get rewarded for bad behavior?”

In a recent ad by J. Crew a mother is holding her son’s foot after applying a coat of pink nail polish to his toes. Jenna Lyons holds son Beckett's pedicured foot in her hand as text below the image reads, "Lucky for me I ended up with a boy whose favorite color is pink. Toenail painting is way more fun in neon." What are we trying to tell our young influential males? “It’s alright to cross-dress” or “It’s ok to be a male with female tendencies? Or is this just another way of using the term Metro sexual?

Others have tried to make a difference in the lives of our young people such as Bill Cosby, Sec. of State Hilary Clinton, Michelle Obama and some dedicated teachers; but what about PARENTS – isn’t it our responsibility to get busy with our children?

Who or what is a “Tom Boy” and should parents condone the girls’ behavior? Where do we draw the line before homosexual behavior is adapted? What about the parents of a little boy who allows him to dress in girls cloths (“My Princess Boy”) because they don’t see anything wrong with it or they don’t want to stifle the child’s creativity? Do we do anything at all or just let boys be boys and girls be girls? How have we gotten to be such a lackadaisical society?

So, with all said, seen and done – what do we do? Are we just going to turn our heads (SMH), or should we get involved at all? What say you? Thanks to Reflections Music Group and Brothatone for their contribution to the music video in this piece.

Influences: winning or losing? Let's hear what you've got to say. Thank you so much for sending your condolences on the passing of my Mother-in-Law on Easter Sunday when she went to "Dance With Jesus".
