Ormond Beach artist featured at Thrasher-Horne Center

The Thrasher-Horne Center Galleries will be exhibiting the work of Ormond Beach artist, Margaret Schnebly Hodge, April 26, 2017 – June 20, 2017.  Ms. Hodge will be featured alongside the Thrasher-Horne’s permanent collection of photographs from Jack Mitchell in his namesake gallery.

Margaret Schnebly Hodge’s exhibit: “Breaking Free; Dark Energy, Dark Matter” is a selection of abstract figurative and landscape paintings which use a dark and rich palette to portray a philosophical preoccupation with concepts of physical and emotional restraint, confinement, and a striving for a sense of freedom.  Hodge has traveled a long and very interesting path of achievement in her career to date which can be viewed in the variety of the artwork presented in this exhibition.  Ms. Hodge received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida, School of Fine Arts in 1976, and trained extensively in classical studio traditions.

Ms. Hodge has received a 2005 Florida Arts Council Enhancement Grant as well as a number of additional awards and commendations.  She has exhibited her work selectively throughout her career, with most recent solo exhibitions at five Florida colleges including: the Rao Musunuru M.D. Art Gallery, Pasco-Hernando State College.  Her work can be found in public, institutional, and private collections.  “Breaking Free: Dark Energy, Dark Matter” will be presented in the Lee Adams Florida Artists’ Gallery.
