A small electrical fire occurred in the area of a portable refrigerated
concession unit in the lobby of the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts
early Monday morning. The smoke
condition triggered the fire suppression system, extinguishing the fire
condition. There is no damage to any of the three theaters and performance
venues, and all performances will continue this week as scheduled:
"Celtic Woman" Tuesday, March 13, 7:30 p.m., Moran Theater
"Anita Baker" Wednesday Night, March 14, 8:00 p.m., Moran Theater
"Million Dollar Quartet" Thursday, March 15, 7:30 p.m., Moran Theater
"Jacksonville Symphony, Mozart and Friends" Friday, March 16 and Saturday, March 17, 8:00 p.m., Jacoby Symphony Hall
The state Fire Marshall has been on-site, assessed the situation and has released the building for occupancy. SMG will manage the water remediation effort that is currently under way. SMG, The Jacksonville Symphony and Jacksonville Cultural Council offices are all opened as scheduled at the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts.
