New Kids On The Block will be in JAX this weekend

Back in 2018, New Kids On The Block, the multiplatinum selling pop super-group, unveiled an epic lineup for their highly anticipated 2019 tour.  NKOTB took to the Today Show plaza to reveal The MixTape Tour with very special guests Salt-N-Pepa, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson and Naughty by Nature.  The five iconic pop and hip-hop acts will hit the road together for the first time ever on a 53-city tour across North America next summer, including its stop at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena on July 12, 2019.

To celebrate the event, NKOTB surprised fans by dropping an epic, throwback track, “80s Baby” featuring their new touring partners, Salt-N-Pepa, Naughty By Nature, Debbie Gibson and Tiffany.  The track takes listeners on a nostalgic yet refreshingly modern and fun ride through 80s song references and fresh verses- just a small glimpse into the party that will be The MixTape Tour.  Stream the song HERE.

With over 100 million combined records sold worldwide, NKOTB, Salt-N-Pepa, Naughty by Nature, Tiffany and Debbie Gibson will fill arenas with hit after hit when they take to the stage next summer.  Always upping the ante, NKOTB have packaged the ultimate lineup for a once in a lifetime live show experience.  The group will return to the stage after 2018’s touring hiatus to perform fan favorite number one hits like: “Hangin’ Tough,” “I’ll Be Loving You (Forever),” and “Step By Step”.  When tour mates Salt-N-Pepa, Debbie Gibson, Tiffany and Naughty by Nature hit the stage, they bring with them top chart hits and legendary catalogues to keep fans out of their seats all night.  The tour is sure to be one of the can’t miss events of the summer featuring an unforgettable night full of smashes spanning across generations.

NKOTB made the announcement on the heels of their SOLD-OUT Apollo Theater show celebrating the 30th anniversary of their hit packed, breakout album Hangin’ Tough.  The special one night only engagement sold out within minutes of onsale and saw NKOTB gracing Harlem’s famed Apollo stage for the first time since they debuted “Please Don’t Go Girl” at the Apollo’s notoriously tough amateur night.  The career defining album, Hangin’ Tough produced hits like: “Please Don’t Go Girl,” "You Got It (The Right Stuff)", “I'll Be Loving You (Forever)", and “Cover Girl.”  The crowd erupted when the band confirmed on stage that Hangin’ Tough will get a special anniversary re-issue in early 2019 with new, never been released music.

Produced by Live Nation, The MixTape Tour has embarked on its three-month journey wrapping up in Orlando on July 13th, and July 14th in Hollywood, FL.

Straight off the Voice - ‘Blake Shelton’ comes to JAX

From his team members on The Voice to veteran country artists, Blake Shelton has a history of demonstrating his support for the people in whom he believes; when he realized that fans across the country needed to hear music from his friends and heroes, he decided to bring them all out on the road. “Friends & Heroes 2019” will kick off on February 14 in Oklahoma City, OK and will span 18 dates across the country.

Very special guest Lauren Alaina joins Shelton for the run along with special appearances by country icons the Bellamy Brothers, John Anderson and Trace Adkins.  “I’m really excited about my tour because it’s taking where I came from and the music I listened to growing up, and actually introducing it to a whole new audience,” Shelton said.  “I feel like a lot of people might know the Bellamy Brothers’ and John Anderson’s music, but maybe they’re not familiar with who they are as artists.  I think that this is going to be a great opportunity for the country music fan base to be re-introduced to these guys and, selfishly, I’m just excited to share the stage with them! It’ll be great to have Trace back out on the road with us, and I can’t wait for one of my newer friends and heroes, Lauren Alaina, to blow these crowds away.”

Fans can hear Shelton on country radio with his Top 15 and climbing single “Turnin’ Me On.” The “smoldering, mid-tempo number about a seductive flame” (Rolling Stone) follows smash hits “I Lived It” and “I’ll Name The Dogs,” the latter of which notched him the 25th No. 1 single of his career and recently earned its RIAA Gold certification.  Shelton has already taken the single to major television stages on Late Night with Seth Meyers, TODAY, the 2018 CMT Awards and more.  He is also back as a coach for his 15th season on NBC’s The Voice.

About Blake Shelton: Country Music Association’s 2012 “Entertainer of the Year,” five-time Male Vocalist of the Year winner and GRAMMY nominee Blake Shelton continues to add to his superstar status.  “Turnin’ Me On” hails from Shelton’s chart-topping Warner Bros. / Warner Music Nashville album Texoma Shore.  In the week following album launch, he became the first artist in Country Aircheck / Mediabase history to have six songs chart simultaneously.  It became his sixth record to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and marked his 11th all-genre Top 10.

About Lauren Alaina: Georgia native Lauren Alaina captured America’s hearts when she competed on Season 10 of American Idol. In 2017, Lauren followed up her No. 1 debuting first album, Wildflower, with the release of the critically-acclaimed Road Less Traveled.

About Bellamy Brothers: Howard and David continue to prove that the trail they’ve ridden to fame has been as unique as their music itself—music that is now celebrating more than 40 years of success.  The road that started on the pop music charts in the ‘70’s, took a winding turn into country music in the ‘80’s, paving the way for duos to come, such as Brooks & Dunn, Montgomery Gentry, Big & Rich and The Judds.

About John Anderson: His memorable hits from that musical era include: “Wild and Blue,” “I'm Just An Old Chunk Of Coal,” “1959,” “I Just Came Home To Count The Memories,” “Black Sheep,” Swingin',” “Straight Tequila Night,” “Money In The Bank,” “I’ve Got It Made,” “I Wish I Could Have Been There,” “Let Go Of The Stone,” “Bend It ‘Til It Breaks,” “Mississippi Moon” and
“Somebody Slap Me.”

About Trace Adkins: Towering baritone Trace Adkins has sold more than 11 million albums and charted more than 20 singles in his 25 years in Nashville, a remarkable run for one of country music’s most easily identifiable stars.  The Louisiana native recently released his 12th studio album, Something’s Going On, on BBR Music Group / Wheelhouse Records.

‘VyStar’ to partner with ‘Veterans Memorial Arena’

Mayor Lenny Curry and Brian E. Wolfburg, President/CEO of VyStar Credit Union, announced that a naming rights agreement has been reached between VyStar and the City of Jacksonville for the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena – a first for the arena. Legislation to enact the agreement has been filed and sent to the Jacksonville City Council.  Pending City Council approval, the arena will be known as VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.

“In coordination with veteran leaders, my staff and VyStar, we have an agreement that is good for taxpayers and at the same time creates new program funding for veterans in our City,” said Mayor Curry.  “This is a win for everyone involved, and I will work with the City Council to earn their approval.”

Brian Wolfburg says, “VyStar will be honored to have its name alongside our brave veterans’ on the arena. Both of our missions, to serve and recognize our great military, could not be more aligned.  Based on VyStar’s deep roots in the military community, past and present, we can’t imagine a more suitable naming partnership.”

In addition, the naming rights agreement provides for several Veteran support initiatives – including a concessions donation program, which will allow arena patrons to make donations to an approved veteran program when making a purchase at the arena’s concessions stands.  Other initiatives include a veteran memorial, as well as discounts for veterans and VyStar members on concessions, tickets, and parking.  Veterans will also be included in ticket presale opportunities making it possible for them to purchase tickets before public on-sales.

Formerly known as Jax Navy Federal Credit Union, VyStar was chartered in 1952 at Naval Air Station Jacksonville (NAS Jax) to provide civil service and military employees and their families a safe place to save and borrow money. It wasn’t until 2002 that VyStar (then Jax Navy Federal) opened membership to the five-county area – including Duval, Clay, Nassau, St. Johns, and Baker counties – and changed its name to VyStar Credit Union.
