Keep your “JOY”

Our Small Group continued with another fruit of the Holy Spirit, and that is the fruit of “Joy”.  We had three questions to answer concerning how “Joy” affects our everyday lives.  How do we, as Christians, allow Joy to be seen in us?

  • What about your life would cause someone, who doesn’t know Christ, want to experience God?
  • Have you ever known someone full of Joy?  How did you know they were full of Joy?
  • Would your joy be gone if you lost ALL your possessions?

Take a listen to the video and hear about the unspeakable Joy that graces our lives.

“Under Observation”

Christians live under a microscope, even among other believers.  We are watched closely to see what our reactions will be to certain situations.  Will we get upset?  Will we lose it?  What will we do?  But if we allow God to be the head of our lives, He will receive the glory in all that is done unto His name.  If I continually praise Him and wait on Him, He will direct my path.  He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.  But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Is.40: 29, 31).

The difference between Job and us is that we have the story of Job in the Bible, and, by reading that story, we can see what the outcome will be; in our lives, we cannot see what the outcome will be.  All Job possessed was his faith.  Shall our faith in God be any less significant than his?

Nothing Wrong With Being Tenderhearted

Have you ever sat in a church service and thought that Aunt Susie had told the preacher what you had recently shared with her?  How dare she go to the Pastor and spill all your business.  Well, she didn’t tell a soul.  God allows us to experience and know things that other people may have, or are about to go through.

Recently, there was another tornado disaster (remember the Baltimore Bombing, Hurricane Sandy, Hurricane Faye, 2011 Tsunami and Christchurch – just to name a few) that has occurred in Moore, Oklahoma.  We may or may not have family members or someone we know, who was affected; but many lives were lost, possessions lost and there is still probably much sadness throughout the area.

Many years ago, a lady who I casually knew had passed away from a brain aneurysm.  She was about   I met her when and where she was a clerk at a dress shop in New Mexico.  We laughed and talked when I came into the store to shop.  We had no other connection, yet when I heard that she had died, I was devastated.  I cried, off and on, for days until I last laid eyes on her in her casket.  Why was I so emotionally attached?  To this day, I don’t know why, but I can recall the time and then move on.  I can’t bring her back, nonetheless, one day I will see her again to smile and just say “Hi”.
to come to work at the same place where I was already working.

There is much that has to be done for Moore, Oklahoma and also at the other locations to get them back to a little bit of normalcy.  People will be psychologically marred for awhile, nevertheless, we are resilient people and if we have a strong belief to hold on to as we seek consolation – we will live and rebuild our lives.

God did not cause this, or any other devastation that has happened on this earth.  God has allowed the devil to roam the earth and cause these hardships.  God has also given each one of us the choice of how we handle certain situations.  You may ask yourself - why?  Well, that’s what going to heaven, one day, is all about.  So we are to live and enjoy our lives to the full extent of our purpose.  Continue to TBR!
