Called by God or Man?

Are we walking a tightrope?  Are we giving God or man the glory?  “God gave me the Gift of Discernment;” or “Sister Sookie told me that she got a Word from God that I was supposed to be a pastor of a mega church around the corner from …”  Man-made or God ordained?  Are we fulfilling the prophesy that is within us? That prophesy which God has established, or are we trying to live up to someone else’s prophesy[1] to us?  Make sure you’re hearing from God before you go stepping out into a calling (pastor, teacher, prophet, etc.) or a ministry.

Who Do You Trust?
Did you know that the devil doesn’t want you or me in part?  He’s aiming for 100%.  Some people believe: “The devil doesn’t want me.  If I leave him alone, then he’ll leave me alone.”  Not true!  He wants 100% of all he can get, and then he’ll throw you to the side until he’s ready to use you again for his evil deeds.  Yes, if you allow him to, the devil does desire to use you.
God also wants us to share with Him an everlasting happiness in heaven and an abundant life while here on earth.  But God, too, wants 100% of you.  He’s waiting to give you the best.  Now my question to you is: “Who are you going to trust?”

The Bible

What is the Bible?  It is the inspired and written Word of God.  The Bible is a compass, a treasure map, a key, a recipe, and a way out of trouble when there seems to be no way out.  Life is a maze.  The Bible contains the directions for getting out of the maze.  You don’t have to keep bumping into a wall or hedge.  You don’t have to be lost.  The Bible is for the righteous and for the unrighteous.  The Word of God will help a person who sins get their life right.  A sinner should want to know what the promises of God are, just as the saint should.  The Bible shows each person, who desires to know the truth, how to obtain God’s promises.

Reading the Bible
Have you ever noticed how you can begin to read your Bible, or any type of inspirational material, and your mind will drift away to “Never-never Land” or somewhere else?  You may have looked at two pages, and, when you were finished, you couldn’t remember anything about the subject matter.  Same thing with sleep.  It usually hits hard when you’re reading the Word.  That’s Satan attacking you and attempting to keep you from God’s promises in the Bible.

Whenever this happens, just catch yourself and start over from where you remember that you left off.  Make an extra effort to either read at another time or in another location (get out of bed), but get some Bible reading in each day (even if it’s not a whole chapter), and watch how much more you’ll accomplish next time.  By all means, be faithful.  Also, if you’re having trouble falling asleep, start reading Psalms.  It’s the best sleeping pill in the world.
