Helping others by hearing God

Watching the rain bands come and go (Hurricane Elsa came and went without any damage near us here in northern FL). Our hummingbird even dropped by to let me know that everything is going to be alright.

God is so great. I had a wonderful time ministering to a Lady on the phone who I didn’t know. If you’ve ever called a company, and don’t get an answer right away, you could wait a bit. Instead of using my computer, I wanted to explain what I wanted to a person. I tenaciously stayed on an automated call for 1 hour/33min (got some laundry and ironing done while waiting). After hanging up I called the number again and a young man picked up after a 3 minute wait. That’s when I got transferred right away to a lovely Lady. I took my time and explained why I called. I wasn’t rude and I needed to explain that some older people need to be helped by a timely phone call. I could hear her typing all my information and concerns.

Some kind of way, we started talking about the COVID vaccine and how we both had our shots, yet she didn’t go out much. She too wears a mask out in public even though the mask mandate has been lifted in Las Vegas where she works from her home. She let me know that she felt anxious when wearing a mask. I was led to pray for her and she received the prayer and let me know that she was a Christian and that our meeting was not by chance, but Devine appointment.

Even though I lost time out of my day, it was not wasted. I did what God wanted me to do and got my laundry done.

After praying for our safety from the storm and thanking God for safe travels, it’s time to get some dinner and relax. Have a good evening and a blessed week.

Social media can be a blessing if you let it

New Spirit Full Gospel Word - Praise Team & Dr. B

It’s a blessing from God when you meet someone over the internet (about 6 years ago) and your platonic, Christian relationship blossoms into a kindred spirit, and a true friendship, between two families.  Dr. Allen C. Barham Sr. (Dr. B) and I discovered one another on the social network of “MySpace”.  Instead of music, what we had in common was our love for God, writing and public speaking.

On Sunday May 4, 2014, it was the second time two friends (Ms. “V” & Dr. B) got a chance to see each other.  Dr. B’s let me know that he was coming to minister in Tallahassee, Orlando & in JAX, FL at New Spirit Full Gospel Word Church (under the leadership of Bishop Forrest and Dr. Willamina Gilbert).

Only one time before had Ms. “V” and her husband come face-to-face with Dr. Barham.  This promised to be a very special time because of the opportunity to meet Dr. B’s wife, youngest child and their Grandchild.

God also orchestrated a reunion with a former church member whom I had lost contact and we had a grand fellowship at New Spirit.  Let it also be known that the New Spirit Gospel Word Church was next door to the mortuary where my Mother-in-law was laid to rest back in 2011.

Some people talk about social network meetings as being unsafe, and they could be harmful, yet if we use wisdom then we can be the master over the site instead of the site controlling us…

Called by God or Man?

Are we walking a tightrope?  Are we giving God or man the glory?  “God gave me the Gift of Discernment;” or “Sister Sookie told me that she got a Word from God that I was supposed to be a pastor of a mega church around the corner from …”  Man-made or God ordained?  Are we fulfilling the prophesy that is within us? That prophesy which God has established, or are we trying to live up to someone else’s prophesy[1] to us?  Make sure you’re hearing from God before you go stepping out into a calling (pastor, teacher, prophet, etc.) or a ministry.

Who Do You Trust?
Did you know that the devil doesn’t want you or me in part?  He’s aiming for 100%.  Some people believe: “The devil doesn’t want me.  If I leave him alone, then he’ll leave me alone.”  Not true!  He wants 100% of all he can get, and then he’ll throw you to the side until he’s ready to use you again for his evil deeds.  Yes, if you allow him to, the devil does desire to use you.
God also wants us to share with Him an everlasting happiness in heaven and an abundant life while here on earth.  But God, too, wants 100% of you.  He’s waiting to give you the best.  Now my question to you is: “Who are you going to trust?”

“Listen & Do”

It had been six years since I’d had a vacation, and finally, I had the opportunity to go on one.  I forgot how beautiful Arizona and southern New Mexico could be.  Everywhere you look there are mountains in the background.  At night the sky cascades with millions of lights, bright and clear to the eye.  My bus ride was a wonderful way to appreciate the beauty that God has given us, and it also afforded some time to catch up on much-needed rest.

I asked the Lord if He would grant me some time alone and not have me witness (strike up a conversation) with anyone on the trip to Phoenix.  God does have a sense of humor.  He sat me a couple of seats away from some guy reading, “Divine Revelation of Hell?”  I immediately wanted to inquire about his reading material, but I did ask to be to myself.  I prayed that God would send another laborer.  I was tired, but I started feeling a little guilty also.  I witness at work, at the gym, and at church; why couldn’t I share my faith now?  Besides, I had homework to catch up on (I was able to take a couple of college courses), and besides, I was on a mini vacation.  So, I kept to myself.

Bus terminals are sometimes cold and unfriendly places.  There are many different classes of people taking buses, different from those who hang around airports, yet we’re all God’s children—His creations.  He desires all to come to repentance and eventually to “come home.”  Put it like this—if you are not saved and filled with the Holy Ghost…

Choirs and Commitment

It's almost time once again for the Gospel Heritage Praise and Worship Conference 2012 to come to the shores of Jacksonville, Florida. The conference is an opportunity to fine tune your talent which God has given you. Take a look at last year's Gospel Heritage P and W Conference 2011 (See links) and subscribe to this website to get email notifications when this year's conference comes to town.

Choirs and Commitment

If a choir is not dedicated and disciplined, then they will not be effective. When there are no rules, and a member does what he or she wants to, and comes to practice when they choose to, then the other, faithful members become disillusioned and disinterested.

The ministry of serving God in song is not a show-and-tell, or “They need my voice to uplift the congregation” experience. I believe, if a person has not been blessed to sound like BeBe or CeCe Winans, then they can sing out to the Lord in a sweet bouquet of song in their own way. Attitude is most important, especially in remembering to whom we’re singing, and what we’re singing for.

I have seen the anointing leave a choir over the years due to a haughty spirit within that choir. The Lord will bless our endeavors to a certain point. We have to do our part: Come to rehearsal on time, be devoted to the ministry, be committed, and be faithful. This is what God expects from us when we sing and everyone will be blessed.
