The Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour kicked off to
sold-out crowds in September 2018 and has received rave reviews in every market.  Taking the audience on a magical journey through his career, the show features some of Elton’s most beloved songs from his legendary catalogue including, “Bennie and the Jets,” “Rocket Man,” “Tiny Dancer,” and “Philadelphia Freedom.” Elton’s music has taken him to many places, opened many doors and inspired many passions in his life.  The audience will experience a rare glimpse into Elton’s life and the deeply personal meaning behind some of his greatest hits, with mesmerizing, never-before-seen photos and videos shown throughout the show from his incredible 50-year career.

A little about Elton John: Elton’s career achievements to date are unsurpassed in their breadth and longevity as the number 1 top-performing solo male artist.  Elton is one of the top-selling solo artists of all time, with 1 diamond, 38 platinum or multi-platinum, and 26 gold albums, over 50 Top 40 hits, and he has sold more than 300 million records worldwide.  He holds the record for the biggest-selling single of all time, “Candle in the Wind 1997”, which sold over 33 million copies.  ‘Diamonds’ the Ultimate Greatest Hits album, reached the Top 5 of the UK album charts on its release in November 2017, becoming Elton’s 40th UK Top 40 album in the process. This release celebrated 50 years of his song writing partnership with Bernie Taupin.  August 2018 saw Elton named as the most successful male solo artist in Billboard Hot 100 chart history, having logged 67 entries, including nine No. 1s and 27 Top 10s.

In 1992, Elton established the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which today is one of the leading non-profit HIV/AIDS organizations and has raised over $450 million to date in the global fight against HIV/AIDS.  In June 2019 President Emmanuel Macron presented Elton the Légion d’honneur, France’s highest award, for his lifetime contribution to the arts and the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena celebrates milestone

The Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena (JVMA) marks its 15-year anniversary this month and announced plans to celebrate the milestone with a series of special events and contests.  The JVMA replaced the Veterans Memorial Coliseum, which was the city’s primary concert venue.  The doors opened for its first performance on November 21, 2003 with Elton John.  Since then, over 7.2 million patrons have attended 1,607 events. JVMA has presented an impressive 77 sold out concerts in its 15-year history.

One of the contests planned for the year-long celebration is the “15 for 15” Contest. JVMA will be announcing monthly ticket giveaways on social media for 15 of the hottest events of the year including: Cher, P!NK, Blake Shelton, Elton John, KISS, Twenty One Pilots, and New Kids on the Block, with more events to be announced throughout the year.

“This 15-year milestone will be a celebration of the past, the present, and the future of Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena,” said Bill McConnell, General Manager of SMG Jacksonville, “Over the past decade and a half, Jacksonville’s most iconic sports, music and entertainment venue has been a home of great pride for the people of Jacksonville.  Since its opening, the Arena has hosted world class artists and events and the best is yet to come.  We want to celebrate the wonderful memories that have been made under this roof and look forward to historic new milestones beginning in 2019; made possible by the tremendous community support for entertainment and sports here in Jacksonville.”

‘Elton John’ farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in JAX 2019

After more than half a century on the road and an unparalleled career that has redefined the cultural landscape and seen Elton John claim his place as a true global icon, the superstar today announced via an exclusive VR180 live stream on YouTube, details of his final tour called ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’.

Kicking off in the U.S. on September 8, 2018, the ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour will consist of more than 300 shows across five continents, hitting North America, Europe, Asia, South America and Australasia before reaching its conclusion in 2021.  These dates mark the superstar’s last-ever tour, the end of half a century on the road for one of pop culture’s most enduring performers. Elton’s new stage production will take his fans on a musical and highly visual journey spanning a 50-year career of hits like no one has ever seen before.

“Performing live fuels me and I’m ecstatic and humbled to continue to play to audiences across the globe,” said Elton
. “I plan to bring the passion and creativity that has entertained my fans for decades to my final tour. After the tour finishes, I’m very much looking forward to closing off that chapter of my life by saying farewell to life on the road. I need to dedicate more time to raising my children.”
