The Florida State College at Jacksonville High
School Summer Musical Theatre Experience is celebrating its 15th year providing
theatre opportunities to 7th–12th
graders in the First Coast area. This summer, more than 40 student performers
and technicians will train with professional theatre artists in preparation for
their production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat”.One of the most enduring shows of all time, Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat is a reimagining of the Biblical story of
Joseph, his father Jacob, eleven brothers and the coat of many colors.
Told entirely through song with the help of a main character Narrator, the
musical follows preferred son Joseph. After being sold into slavery by his
brothers, he ingratiates himself with Egyptian noble Potiphar, but ends up in
jail after refusing the amorous advances of Potiphar’s wife. While imprisoned,
Joseph discovers his ability to interpret dreams, and he soon finds himself in
front of the mighty but troubled, Elvis-inspired, Pharaoh. Joseph’s solution to
Egypt’s famine elevates him to Pharaoh’s right-hand man and reunites him with
his family.
The magical musical is full of catchy songs in a variety of styles, from a
parody of French ballads (“Those Canaan Days”), to country-western (“One More
Angel in Heaven”) and calypso (“Benjamin Calypso”), along with the
unforgettable classics “Any Dream Will Do” and “Close Every Door.”
Appropriate for all audiences and groups, Joseph is performed hundreds of times
a year by schools across North America, the U.K. and around the world.

Camp Broadway® introduces young people to the world of life
on-stage and behind the scenes. Campers
work with Broadway directors, choreographers, and musical directors to receive
training in acting, scene study, improvisation, music theory, solo and ensemble
singing, movement, and dance. This
five-day performing arts program offers each camper the opportunity to
expand his or her creative talents, build self-esteem, learn the art of
collaboration, and gain a fuller respect and understanding of musical theatre.
Camp Broadway® has been proclaimed the “Camp of Dreams” for starry-eyed
kids who are just beginning to dream of being on Broadway. It is a self-contained summer workshop that
travels around the country bringing Broadway to kids. The 40 hours of camp include singing, dancing
and master classes for kids ages 10 to 17. No singing, dancing or acting experience
necessary - just a willingness to have fun and a curiosity about what
happens on stage and behind the curtain.

a fun-filled week of activities designed to teach kids about the serious
business of live theater. One activity
is our annual Salute to Singin' and Dancin' Kids™ (a special luncheon
where campers meet and hear about the various theater jobs from real theater
professionals).

The wacky and talented Professor Smart and Dr. Knowitall join forces for an
educational, entertaining, exciting, and experiential extravaganza. Professor Smart shrinks his head, has toilet
paper flying, juggles, and has peoples’ hair standing on end, all while
demonstrating principles of physics. Researcher and comedic sidekick Dr. Knowitall
keep all the facts straight.
During Let's Go Science Show, kids learn science concepts through
impressive and memorable demonstrations. They learn about air pressure, figure out
flight, see awesome optical illusions, are shocked by static electricity, see
experiments with falling masses, grasp gyroscopic properties, and get a handle
on the scientific method.
