This tune will be in your head for a while after you attend this hilarious
rendition of the hit TV series “The Addams Family”
(“They're creepy and they're kooky, mysterious
and spooky, they're altogether ooky, The Addams Family.
Their house is a museum, when people come to see 'em, they really are a
scream, The Addams Family. Snap, Snap”),
at the Alhambra Theater and Dining. This
is another HIT for Producer/Director, Tod Booth*, who has put his little
additional twists on this presentation.
Kudos go out to Executive Chef, DeJuan Roy for his marvelously wicked dishes,
some of which you can see in the photos; Choreographer, James Kinney*, makes
his characters ‘come to life’ especially in the “Just Around the Corner” number; Costume Designer, Camala Pitts
& Dorinda Quiles help Morticia (Stacey
Harris*) with the conversion of her dress and also assists the Ancestors
with their deadly makeup and garbs; Set Designers, David Dionne & Ian Black
for their convertible indoor/outdoor swivel sets and minute Uncle Fester; and
from Musical Director, Cathy Murphy Giddens, who manages to make the harmony of
the Ancestors and lead actors, sound like a professional choir.
The stage is full of talented actors who sing, dance and run their lines as any
pro from the Broadway
musical. Wednesday (Kayla Tomas) shows her musical talents
in the song “Pulled”. She almost doesn’t even need a mike. A very authentic Lurch (Austin Palmer) is a man of few words except on “Not Today”; WOW! The Ensemble gives the audience a great ‘treat’
with the song “One Normal Night” as the
funny Uncle Fester (Shaun Rice*) mentions
the JAX ‘Jumbo Shrimp’ that brings the crowd to laughter and applause. “Thing” and “Cousin It” has a couple of small
parts in the show, even if they weren’t recognized in the program.

Teens in the I’m A Star Foundation presented a
check for $35,000 to Duval County Public Schools today, benefitting the 2700
homeless students in their school system. This marks a milestone for the Teens as the
non-profit organization approach the $100,000 mark with a total of $96,500
raised in their Jacksonville HELPS (Homeless Students Empowered through
Leadership, Partnership & Service) effort since 2013. All funds have been donated to the Duval
County Public Schools’ Homeless Education Department. A portion of that amount was awarded through
14 scholarships to homeless students entering college.
The teens spoke before the recent school board meeting, thanking the community
before delivering the funds. “The community stepped up in a big way,”
remarked 16-year-old Jacksonville HELPS Co-Chair Joshua Brown.
The teen servant leaders kicked off the 2017 fundraiser in July, collecting
funds through a Celebrity Basketball game, GoFundMe campaign and private donations. I’m A Star
Foundation donated all money to the district as unrestricted funds, which will
provide resources for students in the DCPS “Families in Transition” program. The $35,000 will cover needs such as eye
glasses, books, toiletry items, bus passes, doctor's fees, hotel vouchers,
rental deposits, college application fees and more.
This year’s Celebrity Basketball game caught the attention of USA Olympic Gold
Medalist Simone Biles, who sent a video congratulating 'I'm A Star' teens. View

The “Southern Women’s Show”
turns 30 this year and will be in Jacksonville, Florida from Thursday October 19
to Sunday October 22, 2017. You can
enjoy over 400 vendor booths throughout the Prime Osborn Center. There will be clothing, accessories, home
decor, wine, gifts, make-up, gourmet products, crafts, live music, fashion
shows, loads of freebies and “delicious foods”.
If you’ve previously attended the Southern Women’s Show, or this is your first

this year. “Girls Night Out” will be

Laurie Hernandez, a Silver and Gold medal winner in Rio, will be
appearing at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 19 on the Fashion Stage. You also won’t want to miss the “Cooking
Segment Shows” that run each of the four days. There are also a few fine Department Stores

The Sound of Music and the FSCJ Artist Series are teaming up to make a difference
on the First Coast after Hurricane Irma.

Foundation’s First Coast Hurricane Relief Fund for each ticket sold to The
