God will lead and guide you through the affairs of your life.  You have to take care of your health and see about your needs (not wants) before you can take care of anyone else.  This also means that you don’t go to the poor farm trying to go overboard buying yourself things you can’t afford.  Your family will always be there for you.  And you need to work and get along with your co-workers in order to reap the salary that God has supplied you through your position at work.  It’s the order of things that brings success to your life.  These four important elements should be in everyone’s life.

How would you handle the following situation?  One evening, you are scheduled to go to your child’s music recital.  You are also expected to attend a going-away party for a co-worker at the office, and, on the same night, there is a revival at church—all events are scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.  Tough situation?  Well, there are different ways to view these events. Let me tell you how I would prioritize the situation.

My child, who is a gift from God, needs my support in all that he/she attempts to do.  Either my husband and/or I would be there for them.  Usually, the revival will run more than one night.  I would let my pastor know that I wouldn’t be able to make it on that night, but, Lord willing (and He is), I would try to make it on another night.  My co-workers, especially the one leaving, should be given an explanation of why I won’t be able to stay at the party long.  If it has been placed upon my heart to give the person leaving a gift, then I would do so, along with my apology.

At this time, let me mention that our children’s activities can also pull us away from other duties that we have in our lives.  I have seen some parents be slaves to their children’s ambitions and neglect their own personal duties.  There is a happy medium, and, during family discussion times, compromises can be made for all concerned.  Also, don’t try to do everything in one night because you do need to get some rest too.

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl - release the one, but what about the 6 or the 99?

Here are some questions for you to answer concerning the release of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl: “WWJD” or what would Jesus say?  What about the mental condition of Sgt. Bergdahl – should it be considered?  Should he be considered a deserter, or should he be forgiven if he is suffering from a “mental illness”?

Sure it had been 5 years since this sergeant had been captured, but has the government been involved with the 200 plus girls who were taken from their school and from their parents in Africa?

What about the six soldiers who lost their lives trying to find Sgt. Bergdahl when he left his camp?  Does the word, “sorry” have any meaning to the parents and siblings of these young men?  Listen to what a Josh Korder (former member of Bergdahl’s unit) has to say about him.

What about the deleted “tweet” that Bergdahl’s father posted and then deleted?  Does it sound like Daddy is a true American?  Also a question surfaces about the Taliban taking prisoners for as long as they kept Sgt. Bergdahl alive.  Take a look at “The Total War” center and see how Al-Qadea handles their captives (POW’s).

Do you recall prisoners that were released under President Clinton administration through Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr.?  Three American soldiers were held captive in 1999 for a little over a month.  The hostage tradeoff was not as extensive as the ratio that the US is experiencing in today’s news.

What does the Bible say about the one lost sheep that was sought-after and the 99 sheep that were left behind – would that parable apply here?  There were six members of the squadron who sacrificed their lives to search for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl – what about that?

Give to Get to Give Again

Have you considered what the Bible phrase “…shall men GIVE unto your bosom…” from Luke 6:38 actually meant?  Recently our small group had to privilege to help someone who was in need of assistance.  Our group did not know the individuals, but we were informed and had to ask ourselves, “WWJD” (What Would Jesus Do?).

Take a look at their story here on Examiner.com, and see if you would like to be a blessing to this family.  Or maybe you know of someone else who would like to see a little bit more of what Jesus is truly like right here on this earth.

If you don’t know what a Small Group is; take a look below and find a connection where you live.  Check your local church and ask them about “Small Groups” in your area.

What Is A Small Group?

A "Small Group" {Cell Group, C.A.R.E. (Christians Are Reaching Everyone), Bible Study Group or a Home Group} are a small group of individuals that gather together to have fellowship.  These groups are normally branched out of "Mega Churches" where the Pastor cannot meet with the entire congregation, but he has appointed individuals to get to know a portion of the flock on a more intimate scale.

Small Groups (from 10 - 15 members) live in close proximity to each other and have a common relationship besides the church.Groups may include athletics, shopping, couples, young adults, cooking, dancing, coupon shoppers, motorcyclist, singles, divorced', or any other shared activity and common interest.  They allow members to connect in an atmosphere that’s perfect for intimate worship, regular fellowship, close discipleship, targeted service, and widespread evangelism.

The group is not intended to take the place of a corporate place of worship, but to enhance the church body.  Even if a person is not attending a physical church building, they may even find the comradery of the Small Group to assist them in finding a "Church Home".

Small Group members help each other in times of need. They let the church know if there is something that might need professional attention.  Small Groups stand in the gap for each other and pray for and check on each other and get closer to God.

Listen To What You Hear

Have you had the opportunity to sit somewhere that is quiet, and then taken the time to listen to the birds sing?  Have you ever listened to the different sounds outside?  Are we able to hear those audible remembrances which we often take for granted?  Can we listen to people quietly talking in their gardens, children laughing while they play, and a lawn mower cutting grass way off in the distance, or music playing softly in the background and be appreciative of God’s symphony?  It’s music to one’s ears.

During these peaceful times of being still and listening, I can reminisce about the good times when I was younger.  It reminds me of what I was doing when I heard those same sounds years ago such as going roller skating, having picnics in the park, or going to a friend’s house for a party.  It’s a very precious feeling that I get when I think about these experiences.  It’s also during those quiet times that I can hear the voice of God without difficulty.
