‘Ain’t Misbehain’ has singing, dancing and swinging

If you want to hear some good ole Honkey Tonk, Speak Easy, Cabaret, Swing music; then you better get over to the Alhambra Theatre & Dining to experience toe-tapping sounds of an era gone by.  This wonderful show will remind you of the Roaring 20’s, Jive Talkin' and other LIVE music that is better than any Big Band yesterday or today.

Ain't Misbehavin’, is now playing at the Alhambra and is a tribute to the black musicians of the 1920s and 1930s who were part of the Harlem Renaissance, an era of growing creativity, cultural awareness, and ethnic pride, and takes its title from the 1929
Thomas "Fats" Waller song, "Ain't Misbehavin'".

Dynamic scenery, costumes and dancing compliment the magnificent voices that pump out song-after-song with no resting until the intermission before the second act.  The Live Band comprised of: Anthony Felton (Conductor/Piano man), Sean Tills (Bass), Greg Hersey (Drums); Carson Smisek (Trumpet); Alex Hernandez (Reeds) and Diego A. Herrada (Trombone), continually accompanied the five actors/singers/dancers/stage perfectionists.

The Five Actors, who played separate personalities, entertained effortlessly during the entire performance.  Tarra Conner Jones* (Nell/Tarra), Cherry Hamlin* (Amelia/Cherry), Amitria Fanae* (Charlene/Amitria), Christopher G. Patterson* (Andre/Christopher) and E. Mani Cadet* (Ken/Mani).  * Denotes Actors’ Equity Association.

The meal that Chef DeJuan Roy and his staff prepared, is scrumdiddlyumptious.  The Spinach Salad, and Atlas Mountain Soup is very tasty.  This writer had the pleasure of enjoying the Fried Flounder while our tablemates said that the Pork Ribeye Steak is very, very tender.  Our dessert choice was the Sweet Potato Cheesecake.  All was yummy and, as always, the portions are quite adequate.

Don’t be Misbehavin’ and miss out on this seat-dancing, finger-poppin’ show.
