The Tony Award^®-winning Broadway musical, “Bandstand”, is in Jacksonville, FL for only seven more performances at the Times Union Center Moran Theater.  If you know anything about life after the military, or the comradery of soldiers who share their talents, heartaches, promises, mental demons, injustice and dreams of a future life and how that life use to be; then you need to see this heartwarming musical.  The storyline is easy to follow and might transport you back to the Viet-Nam era, or any post-wartimes experiences that you might have endured.

The choreography is wonderful and the songs throughout the musical are very well done.  Kudos to the marvelous singing done by Jennifer Elizabeth Smith (what a powerful voice).  Accolades to the orchestra in the pit: (Miles Plant, Brian Victor, Michael Brinzer, Ross Kratter and Brian Ganch); and to the cast/band members on stage (Rob Clove, Benjamin Powell, Scott Bell, Louis Jannuzzi III, Zack Zaromatidis & Jonmichael Tarleton) who played along.  The show moves along smoothly and is well worth your investment of time and money.

‘Bandstand’ coming to The Times-Union Center for only eight shows

FSCJ Artist Series is proud to announce that the Tony Award^®-winning Broadway musical, “Bandstand”, comes to Jacksonville’s Times-Union Center for only 6 days.  Originally directed and choreographed by three-time Tony winner and Hamilton choreographer, Andy Blankenbuehler, featuring music by Richard Oberacker with book and lyrics by Robert Taylor and Richard Oberacker.  This poignant and inspiring new American musical explodes with infectious music and high-octane, heart-stopping dancing.

It’s 1945. As America’s soldiers come home to ticker-tape parades and overjoyed families, Private First-Class Donny Novitski, singer and songwriter, struggles to rebuild the life he left behind.  When NBC announces a national competition to find the nation’s next great musical superstars, Donny sees a lifeline for himself and some fellow veterans that gives them the purpose they so desperately need.  Together, they form a band unlike any the nation has ever seen. Along the way, they discover the power of music to face the impossible, find their voice, and finally feel like they have a place to call home.

Test Drive and preview the 2019 – 2020 Times Union season

The FSCJ Artist Series, sponsored by Vystar Credit Union, will kick off the 19/20 Broadway in Jacksonville season with its 21st Annual Open House at the Times-Union.  The FSCJ Artist Series Kick Off event will be a perfect evening for families and theater lovers in Jacksonville. Doors will open to the public on Monday, September 9, 2019 at 5 p.m.

Local food trucks will be onsite serving up delicious eats and treats. Door prizes, a complimentary wine tasting, a cash bar, and live music from The Chris Thomas Band will round out the evening.  In addition, attendees will get an extra special sneak peek at the upcoming season with a special performance by a cast member from Wicked.


The theater will also be open to the public to allow attendees to test drive seats for upcoming performances. The FSCJ Artist Series will have staff on hand to answer any questions.

Current Broadway season subscribers will be able to pick up their season tickets, exchange tickets as needed, buy additional single tickets for family and friends, and “test drive” their seats during the event.  Please note, HAMILTON tickets will not be available for pickup in subscriber packets at the event.  They will be mailed out separately at a later date.  Additional subscriber tickets for HAMILTON will not be available for purchase.

Complimentary parking for the first 100 attendees of the Broadway Season Kick Off will be provided by Enterprise Parking Garage.  Attendees can park in the garage and stop by the FSCJ  Artist Series Box Office to receive a parking ticket before leaving the Times-Union Center.

The FSCJ Artist Series’ 19/20 Broadway in Jacksonville Season, sponsored by Vystar Credit Union, features WICKED (November 20- December 1), RENT (January 14-19), BANDSTAND (February 18-23) HAMILTON (March 17-29) and ANASTASIA (April 21-26).
