CATS comes to the Wilson Center for the Arts in JAX

FSCJ Artist Series and the FSCJ Nathan H. Wilson Center for the Arts are proud to present the 11th Annual High School Summer Musical Theatre Experience!  This year, participants will perform CATS for six performances only!  The HSSMT program provides theatre opportunities to 7th – 12th graders in the First Coast area, and allows them to work hands-on with some of the highest recognized local and regional theatre professionals.  More than 90 student performers and technicians are training for the production of CATS.

The Jellicle Cats come out to play on one special night of the year – the night of the Jellicle Ball.  One by one they tell their stories for the amusement of Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, who must choose one of the Cats to ascend to The Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life.
Based on the universally popular poetry of T.S. Eliot, CATS is a true musical theatre phenomenon.  CATS opened at London's New London Theatre on May 11, 1981 and ran for a record-setting 21 years.  CATS's London success was nearly matched on Broadway where it ran at the Wintergarden Theatre for just over 18 years.

CATS will be at the Wilson Center in JAX for six shows
