Florida/Georgia baseball game is coming

The University of Florida and the University of Georgia in partnership with the City of Jacksonville, ASM-Global Jacksonville and 121 Financial Ball Park announced that they will be playing their annual Florida vs. Georgia fall baseball game on Friday, October 29 at 121 Financial Ball Park with the first pitch happening at 6:30 PM. This game will be played ahead of the annual Florida vs. Georgia rivalry football game on Saturday, October 30 at TIAA Bank Field.

Tickets for this year’s baseball game will be priced at $15 and will go on sale this Friday, September 10 at 10 A.M. on Ticketmaster.com.

Additional information and details about activities taking place in Jacksonville during Florida vs. Georgia weekend will be announced in the coming weeks.

About FloridaGeorgia: The Florida-Georgia football rivalry is an American college football rivalry game played annually by the University of Florida Gators and the University of Georgia Bulldogs. The game was first played in 1915, and has been played every season since 1926, except for a war-time interruption in 1943. This match-up between Southeastern Conference opponents is one of the most prominent rivalry games in college football, and has been held in Jacksonville, Florida since 1933, with only two exceptions, making it one of the few remaining neutral-site rivalries in college football.

Premium ‘Tailgating for Georgia-Florida’ Games

Sports Complex Parking and Traffic Alert for Games

On Thursday, August 9, 2018 high attendance is anticipated in and around the Downtown Sports Complex due to coinciding Jacksonville Jaguars and Jumbo Shrimp games.  Please plan routes accordingly and allow extra time for travel and parking, remembering work day traffic can contribute to additional delays. Specific shuttle and parking information is available below.

Please note that the Main Street and Acosta Bridges will have lane closures starting at 8 p.m. Thursday night, potentially causing egress delays.

GAME DETAILS
New Orleans Saints vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Pre-Season Game at 7 p.m. (
All gates open at 5 p.m.)
Mississippi Braves vs. Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp at 7:05 p.m. (

JTA SHUTTLES
Anyone coming to the Sports Complex Thursday night is encouraged to use the JTA Gameday Xpress Shuttle, operating from two downtown locations and two suburban locations. Service begins two hours before kickoff and operates one hour after the game ends. The JTA also offers continuous shuttle service during the game to and from the Convention Center Lot only. Season pass and single game shuttle tickets are available now. All regular game day lots are open and operational, except for the Old St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Lot.
Please ensure your hangtags are visible when entering the complex.
Jumbo Shrimp
The Jumbo Shrimp have communicated directly with any parking pass holders that are being relocated on Thursday night. Please ensure your passes are visible when entering the complex.
For the general public, cash sales parking is available throughout the complex at the Fairgrounds, Maxwell House, Historical Society, Tailgaters Parking, Arena and Sports Complex garages, and other open-air lots.

I’m A Star students host 6th Let’s Move Jax


In an ongoing mission to make Jacksonville the healthiest city in the nation, students in the I’m A Star Foundation are hosting their 6th annual “Let’s Move Jacksonville” event.  The FREE festival, which mirrors First Lady Michelle Obama’s movement to end Childhood Obesity, will be held Saturday, Dec.10th, at the Baseball Grounds (home of the new Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp), at 301 A. Philip Randolph Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida; from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Everyone is welcome, from ages 1 to 100. Activities include relay races, football, soccer, dance contests, healthy food demonstrations, health screenings and more.  Entry is FREE!  Food is FREE!  Parking will be $5 in Lots P, M, & N.  Please, register HERE for Let’s Move Jacksonville.  $1000 will be awarded to the organization that brings the largest crowd.

“We are excited to partner with I’m a Star Foundation and host Let’s Move Jacksonville at the ballpark,” said Jumbo Shrimp General Manager Harold Craw. “We are proud to support an event and organization focused on community wellness and youth empowerment.”

Students in the I’m A Star Foundation have been at the forefront of combatting childhood obesity since 2009. The first Let’s Move Jacksonville event was held in 2010 at a parking lot at Edward Waters College, and has evolved to attract 3,000+ people.  In 2015, Let’s Move Jacksonville recorded 3000+ attendees. Since last year, Jacksonville has moved from #37 to #34 on a list of healthy cities.
