We understand the growing concern surrounding Coronavirus (COVID-19) across our communities, and our hearts go out to all those who've been impacted.  The health and safety of our guests, as well as team members, remains a top priority at Grumpy’s Restaurant.  As this situation evolves and we move toward opening our dining rooms, we want to assure you that we are taking significant precautionary measures and adhering to recommendations from public health officials, as well as continuing to maintain our high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.

Along with our multifunctional task force that includes key leaders across the organization who meet daily to ensure we continue to address all facets of this developing situation.  We are also actively working with our safety experts, vendors and suppliers to ensure that we can continue to offer you the best breakfast, lunch and brunch offerings.

In addition to reinforcing good hygiene practices recommended by the CDC with our team members, we have also adopted the CDC recommendation for a detailed heath screening and temperature check prior to each employee shift.  In addition, all back of house employees are required to wear face coverings at all times.  We have also added six hand sanitizer stations in our restaurant for both employees and guest.  We increased the frequency of our already stringent cleaning and sanitation procedures in every department of the organization.  For example, bathroom cleaning and sanitation has been increased from every hour to every 30 minutes of operational hours.  We have closed our in-restaurant waiting area and created a new outside waiting area.  We have also increased the frequency of cleanings, and are providing supplemental supplies to our team members.

We are monitoring the situation closely and will continue to modify our processes to maintain the highest levels of cleanliness and sanitation in our restaurant.

20/21 Broadway in JAX season

Despite the many shows that were cancelled because of COVID-19, the ‘shows must go on’.  Here is a partial list of some exciting performances to grace the stage of the Moran Theater in Jacksonville, Florida.

The FSCJ Artist Series Broadway in Jacksonville, sponsored by Vystar Credit Union, is proud to announce the 20/21 Broadway in Jacksonville season, filled with award-winning blockbusters and family favorites, headlined by the winner of six 2017 Tony Awards and the Grammy for Best Musical Theater album, DEAR EVAN HANSEN.

The upcoming season’s Broadway lineup also includes: CATS, COME FROM AWAY, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, and MEAN GIRLS.  All performances will be at the Times-Union Center.

Boxing comes to you through ESPN via VyStar JAX area

If the recent NFL Drafts just wasn’t enough to satisfy your sports hunger, then the UFC^® returns with one of the most stacked cards in recent history, set to be headlined by a bout guaranteed to deliver fireworks as No. 1 ranked lightweight contender Tony Ferguson and No. 4 ranked Justin Gaethje battle for the interim championship.  In the co-main event, Henry Cejudo intends to prove that he is the greatest UFC bantamweight champion of all time as he looks to defeat multiple-time title holder Dominick Cruz.  This will be the first of three events taking place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida on May 9, 13 and 16 respectively, future cards will be announced at a later date.  These events will be closed to the public and will be produced with only essential personnel in attendance.

UFC 249: FERGUSON vs. GAETHJE will take place Saturday, May 9, 2020 at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla.  All prelim bouts will be simulcast on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ in English and Spanish beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET with the UFC Fight Pass prelims.  The prelims will continue exclusively on ESPN & ESPN+ 8 p.m. ET and the ESPN+ Pay-Per-View main card will kick off at 10 p.m. ET.

“Florida’s State Commission and the Department of Business and Professional Regulation have been in continued coordination with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to identify options for bringing the UFC to Florida for upcoming events”, said Florida State Boxing Commission Executive Director, Patrick Cunningham.  “Florida welcomes the UFC to the Sunshine State, and our commission stands ready to sanction the events to be held on May 9, 13 and 16. Health and safety protocols will be in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all individuals who are helping to make these events possible.  With this triple date feature of UFC events coming in May, Florida is continuing to build a strong collaboration with UFC that sets the foundation for more opportunities that we hope UFC will choose to host in our state in the months to come.”

One of the most exciting and unpredictable athletes on the roster, Ferguson (26-3, fighting out of Orange County, Calif.) is on the verge of becoming the first two-time interim lightweight champion in UFC history.  Currently on an incredible 12-fight winning streak, Ferguson has defeated the likes of Donald Cerrone, Anthony Pettis and Rafael Dos Anjos.  He now looks to notch his record-setting 13th win in a row and raise UFC gold once again.

Known for his unrelenting fight style, Gaethje (21-2, fighting out of Arvada, Colo.) has earned a post-fight bonus in every single one of his UFC bouts.  One of the best knockout artists in the division’s history, Gaethje has earned stoppage wins over Donald Cerrone, Edson Barboza and James Vick.  He now looks to secure another iconic finish and earn his first UFC championship.

Cejudo (15-2, fighting out of Phoenix, Ariz.) is one of only four athletes in UFC history to hold two championships at the same time.  To accomplish this feat, he netted impressive victories Demetrious Johnson, TJ Dillashaw and Marlon Moraes.  After recently relinquishing the flyweight belt, Cejudo now plans to reassert his dominance over the bantamweight division by taking out one of its greatest champions.

Returning to action for the first time in three years, Cruz (22-2, fighting out of San Diego, Calif.) intends to prove that he is still the best bantamweight in the world.  A former UFC and WEC champion, Cruz holds wins over Urijah Faber, TJ Dillashaw and Demetrious Johnson.  He now looks to be the first person to defeat Cejudo at 135-pounds and regain his lost crown.

Fan favorites meet, as Donald Cerrone (36-14, fighting out of Albuquerque, N.M.) takes on Anthony Pettis (22-10, fighting out of Milwaukee, Wisc.) in a welterweight bout.
Greg Hardy (6-2, 1NC, fighting out of Coconut Creek, Florida) squares off with undefeated Yorgan De Castro (5-0, fighting out of Fall River, Massachusetts by way of Mindelo, Sao Vicente, Cape Verde) in an exciting heavyweight bout.
Heavyweight grapplers look to make a statement as Aleksei Oleinik (58-13, fighting out of Moscow, Russia) welcomes back former UFC champion Fabricio Werdum (23-7, fighting out of Los Angeles, Calif.).
Ryan Spann (17-5, fighting out of Beaumont, Texas) aims to continue his momentum against crafty veteran Sam Alvey (33-13, 1NC, fighting out of Temecula, California).
Former UFC women’s strawweight champion and No. 7 ranked Carla Esparza (16-6, fighting out of Irvine, Calif.) takes on No. 8 Michelle Waterson (17-7, fighting out of Albuquerque, N.M.).

‘Hamilton’ rescheduled for 2021 at the Times Union Ctr.

FSCJ Artist Series Broadway in Jacksonville engagement of "HAMILTON" has been rescheduled and will now play the Times-Union Center August 31 – September 12, 2021.

Those that purchased through a 3rd party will need to contact their point of purchase directly for options.  Ticket holders have until May 18 to choose from the following options:

Keep the seats they already have for their rescheduled performance indicated on the chart on fscjartistseries.org.  New tickets will be issued closer to the ticket holder’s rescheduled performance.  Please Note: If no response is received by May 18, FSCJ Artist Series will assume the ticket holder prefers to hold their seats and attend the show on the rescheduled date.

Receive a credit/gift certificate and apply it to next season's 20/21 Broadway subscription package.

Receive a credit/gift certificate and apply it to any FSCJ Artist Series event.* (Ticket holders can visit: www.fscjartistseries.org as new events are added including theater, concerts, dance, opera, comedy and family will be added for the 20-21 season).

Donate tickets to be used for Artist Series Educational programs and receive a tax deduction for the total ticket value.

Receive a refund. *Credits/gift certificates DO NOT EXPIRE, can be redeemed by phone or online, and are recorded on the ticket holder’s account if the redemption code is mis-placed. Ticket holders will receive an email order confirmation that has the gift certificate redemption code in it after it has been processed.

WJCT Launches the Jacksonville Music Experience

WJCT has announced the launch of the Jacksonville Music Experience, a new multi-platform collection of services, on April 16, 2020 — the inaugural Public Radio Music Day, designated by Congressional Resolutions to recognize the role that local, noncommercial, nonprofit, public radio stations play in connecting artists with communities around the nation.

Through the Jacksonville Music Experience (wjct.org/jaxmusic), WJCT provides music fans in Northeast Florida and beyond with a variety of ways to enjoy their favorite artists and discover new genres on the air, online, on demand and in person. Elements of the Jacksonville Music Experience include:
New Radio Stations Available 24/7: All available at wjct.org and on the WJCT app:
Classical 24® from American Public Media (89.9 HD2) Anthology a hand-curated playlist of music from the 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s (89.9 HD3).
Electro Lounge Radio expands WJCT’s flagship music program into a full station of relaxing, downtempo and chillout music (89.9 HD4); also available through Spotify and Apple Music playlists.
Music Thursdays on WJCT-TV: Every Thursday starting at 8 p.m., WJCT-TV broadcasts a curated selection of music programming from PBS, ranging from live concert performances including legendary musicians like Billie Eilish, documentaries like “Country Music” by Ken Burns, series like Austin City Limits, in-depth interviews with artists and more.
Studio 5 Sessions:Following a format similar to NPR Music’s Tiny Desk concert series, Studio 5 Sessions features Northeast Florida artists performing some of their most popular works from WJCT’s very own Studio 5.
The VOIDCAST Podcast: In partnership with Void Magazine, this podcast explores the past and present of music history in Northeast Florida with the help of local musicians, producers and the people who lived through it.  Hosted by Void Magazine Editor Matt Shaw and produced by WJCT’s Special Projects Producer, Lindsey Kilbride, VOIDCAST’s three episodes feature the Allman Brothers Band’s formative period in Jacksonville; locals making music alone in their bedrooms — including one who scored a big record deal; and women and queer people claiming their space in the Northeast Florida hip-hop scene.  All three episodes are available for download on all major podcast platforms.
Live Performances at the WJCT Virtual Soundstage: The WJCT Virtual Soundstage allows music lovers to experience live performances from artists all over Northeast Florida without ever leaving their house.  Performances from local artists like Taylor Roberts, Junco Royals and Luke Peacock were scheduled at 7 p.m. that started April 16th. in celebration of the launch.  For information about scheduled performances, join the JME Facebook Group
Live Performances at the WJCT Soundstage: The WJCT Soundstage provides a unique setting for music fans to experience live performances by regional and national touring artists. Placing Your Order: The Alhambra invites you to call-in or place your order online.  Orders may be placed any time prior to Noon on the day of pickup.  Curbside service takes place next week on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 3:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. and Sunday from 12 - 5 p.m.

When you arrive to pick up your order using the drive-through drop off area in front of the theater, a service member will deliver your food straight to your car - fresh, hot and ready to go!  Their service staff appreciates any gratuity offered.
